The first anniversary of my blog

I started blogging one year ago. After a few trial posts, I took a deep breath and started making this blog template and blogged about it at the same time.

My first blog template

This was written almoste entirely making use of genuine Notes design elements and @formulas. I concentrated on good XHTML, CSS and JavaScript practices. I used JavaScript to make things happen that I couldn't achieve with @formulas: tag cloud, showing the number of comments, etc. Would I use the same approach again? No.

Domino web development: the new generation

In August 2007, a discussion was going on about the use of QueryOpen agents in web development. After much hesitation, I choose my path: QueryOpen agents are now my preferred tools. This made my posts shift entirely towards LotusScript.

Domino Workspace

My latest online building project was Domino Workspace, built entirely using LotusScript and in fact my answer to MS SharePoint. This was born out of frustration losing the battle at my customer over the collaboration tool to use in the web team: I proposed Lotus Notes, they have chosen Microsoft. Since then, there has been commercial interest in my Domino Workspace concept. This is the reason why I will put it off line for the time being: I am working on an Intranet version, and I don't have the time to continue both. I will continue blogging about the concepts I discover though.

Next blog year?

I have a feeling that the next blog year will be all about GUI interfaces, how to build them in LotusScript and how to make use of Ajax in that matter.

As a sort of anniversary present for my blog, I decided to rework my blog template according to my new LotusScript 'addiction'. What a geeky plan to do over the weekend. Don't be surprised if things here will go terribly wrong from time to time the following days. I'll keep you posted.

Congratulations from me as well. If I remember right, the first time I noticed your blog was when you mentioned CSS sprites. While this particular technique wasn't new to me (at least in theory), I was immediately caught by the stuff you already had online then. Keep it up!
