Building a Domino website: overview and download
Some weekend in June 2007, I was creating a website in Lotus Notes Domino and blogging about what I did at the same time. This was big fun, as when I was programming along, I noticed that a few fellow Domino addicts spotted this and came looking at the progress from time to time. "What a geeky thing to do over the weekend", I remembered someone comment.
The articles
These are the articles describing what I did:
- Domino as a rapid development tool for web applications
- Setting up a Domino database to serve web pages
- Page template and navigation
- Embedded views and breadcrumbs
- Common JavaScript behaviours for web pages
- Friendly URLs
On request...
You can view the site I've built online. Now I released the site database as a download, so that you can have a peek. You are free to use it, take code from it, modify it, whatever you like. I trust that you remove my personal data and make your own look and feel.

Hi Michel, you should consider adding these great articles to the Show'n Tell Thursday series (http://www.rhs.com/web/blog/gregate/v3test.nsf).

Hi Michael: Though I have been a Notes developer for some time, I have never developed web apps. I am trying to get some exposure so I could develop some. I did download your database, but when I open the database on teh web I do not see the way it shouws whn I open your web site. There is no tabbed table, no picture on the top.. Can you let me know what I am missing here?

Hi Michael: I was finally able to create a simple website. Thanks to your article. I am now more interested in practicing/learning and creating some more web sites. Can you give me any suggestion on where to look for tips, articles, sandbox etc relating to Domino Web development. For example I am trying to figure out how to create a ahopping cart example in Domino and stuff like that.

Try OpenNtf. They might have a Domino Shopping cart somewhere. I Googled for it, and also found: searchdomino.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid4_gci782301,00.html

Hi soz. In fact, the download is not exactly a template to build websites. It is just showing the basic principles to use.

Dear Michel: Your blod is very good because you share your high experience with Lotus Domino. Let me to do a question....I need to implement a Domino search box. It must search 3 or more data base lotus notes in the same domain. How can I do it? All the best for you, Carlos
